Grateful for Nothing

Somedays when I sit down to write I don't really know what I'm going to say. Like today.  Nothing profound happened today.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  We all slipped back into the routine of work, preschool, and daycare after last week's holiday.  On these days when it feels like nothing is shining brightly, nothing is written in bold or punctuated with a exclamation mark, no one is receiving a standing ovation...on these days of nothing I often feel grateful for everything.  The nuttin's goin' on days are the perfect time to appreciate the things that we take take for granted.

Today, on this nothing day, I am grateful for our health. Everyone in our house is healthy today.  I'm almost scared to type this as superstition sets in and the fear that now that I've said it out loud for sure someone will be sick tonight.  Since Callie and Lexi recovered from their last round of bronchitis we have had a bug free house.  We even managed to holiday and stay in a hotel and splash in a public swimming pool without catching anything.  The absence of illness...not to be taken for granted.

Babies in outdoor hot tubs, breathing in cool and refreshing spring air, surrounded by the beauty of the towering trees that make up the forest of the Canadian Shield....ohhhh so grateful.  The lakes are still frozen and the snow's still in banks but the water is warm and so is my heart as I watch a Daddy with his girls having their moments...making their memories.

I am grateful that our families are never far away.  Grateful that we can have family suppers and that Nana and Papa and Grandma and Papa and Great Grandma and Aunties and Uncles and Cousins are just down the street. They can pop in and out, swing by for coffee or meet for brunch.

Great Grandma...beautiful, inside and out.
Even on this day of nothing special, there are things to be grateful for.  Despite the crying while leaving the house this morning and the "I 'm not eating supper or picking up the books I pulled off the shelf"  power struggles, I am still grateful for nothing.

What are you most grateful for on a nothing special day?

It's true...even on the nothing special days, we all have SO much to be thankful for! And it's good to realize this, and not take it for granted.

I'm thankful for my family, and thankful that I get to stay home and be a mom.

Happy Wednesday to you!
